i first met daniela in november of 2004 while she was touring and doing merch for her girlfriend, singer/activist bitch. i was on tour with my buddy terra and she and bitch had a show together in austin the night Bush was re-elected (ew). this was before the L Word. i was on the phone in the small venue talking to my mother, and this chick walked past me as she was loading in gear. i swear i hung up on my mother right then and there, stared blankly for a bit, and as Daniela walked back towards me, i said "i know this is weird for me to say, but you're beautiful. wow."

uh huh. suave, i know;-) but seriously, she is SO stunning in person that you sort of lose your way. you lose your senses. and she was so humble about it that i wasnt even slightly embarrassed. i wasnt trying to hit on her. it was beyond that. there was something very special about this merch girl. and as i watched her shyly sell cds, and dance in the back of the place while Bitch rocked it on stage, i knew i'd see her again.

Q: is there a contract rule or anything where you cant say negative things about the producers/writers or you'll be in trouble, or do you feel that generally it's a professional courtesy not to? (at the L2 convention in London, it seemed like other cast members were very candid about their opinions without completely crossing a line.)

"I have alot of respect for the writers and producers of the show. They are visionaries, women and radicals. I don't have anything negative to say about them, so it's not an issue. And there is nothing in the contract regarding that."

Q: where were you when you first saw yourself on television and what was that experience like?

"When I first saw myself on The L Word, I was in DC at a Human Rights Campaign benefit. It was exciting and slightly overwhelming. Luckily, there were a fair number of older women in the room who had lived through times of great repression whom had fought, putting their lives on the line, for the right to live and love as they pleased. Their dedication and great vision made it so that our generation could be live a more free and open life. It was quite moving to see myself on TV for the first time in their company."

Q: do you ever feel like running away again and being a gypsy?

"Yes. Definitely."

Q: what do you hope for yourself for the near future? another season, to pursue your own music, etc?

"I'm loving making all kinds of things and I'm excited to see what they become and
where they take me. Nothing's really changed, as far as that stuff goes. I've been writing a fair amount, and playing with my band, Bitch and The Exciting Conclusion, and acting on the show and in a couple of films. I'm in a film called Itty Bitty Titty Committee that's premiering at the Berlin Film Festival on February 10th and at South by Southwest in March. It's about a group of anarcho feminists and it's totally rad. Shortbus, the first film I acted in, is still in some theaters and is coming out on DVD soon."

Q: where should Katharine Mcphee and I go for our second honeymoon?

"I think you should take her to Belize. It's beautiful!"

here's another post in that lesbian-friendly category (see description at top of page). i wanted to share a couple of singer/songwriter friends of mine with you who both follow the criteria for being featured here.

i know there was some SHAMELESS promotin' going on in episode 1 of the L Word for the new website OurChart.com. i mean, it was...incredible. it was the only time ive ever laughed over Helena's talking. (by the way, Helena needs to move into my bra. it'll make her feel warm and fuzzy too)

i was worried when i saw the whoring. of course i do a bit of whoring myself (hee)...so if someone who bulletins as much as i do gets uncomfortable during a plug like that one, you know it went on for too long. buuut! i have to say that i really, really like the site so far. i dont even care about the whole mapping out who youve slept with part of it. dont think i'll look at that too much when its live. theyre just doing a really amazing job of putting together some interesting content for us. its different...from an insiders point of view, but still with a little bite to it, so as not to alienate us *little people* :-) and jennifer beals' photographs are stunning. i hope she continues to share her work with us. so far, two enthusiastic nipples in the air. woohoo! ok, i'll get off of the table now.

one cool thing theyre doing is premiering a new web series that the woman who wrote and directed D.E.B.S. recently filmed. (thanks to this chick for hipping me to the new jive!) the series is basically about a lot of hot lesbian icons beatin other bitches up. and who can resist THAT?

i love how giddy Oprah gets around gay people. it doesnt matter what the show is about, if there's even a mention of *gay* from/about one of her guests, she turns into a kid seeing the circus for the first time; pointin and tuggin on her mom's shirt "mommy look at what they can do!"

so of course last year when the preview to one of her shows started with the words "Oprah's Gay Wives," i knew that shit was not to be missed.

the show was pretty good, but my favorite segment had to be these two chicks. i mean, theyre both hot, well-spoken, successful, seemingly "normal"...and the hot brunette says "i was scurrrd" at one point. um...check, please? and can we have this food wrapped to go? the 3 of us will be dining on top of each other's naked bodies in the back of my rented Dodge Neon. thanks.

on a serious note, i do hope that this clip helps at least one person watching. i have a feeling it will...


of course, part of me was also hoping that this would be the episode when Gayle and Oprah finally came clean (ahem) about their affair. i imagined it would be similar to her makeover shows, when someone is behind a picture of themselves, and they crash through it to reveal their new selves. but Gayle's picture would just be a giant question mark, as the world held its breath. then out pops Gayle, arms waving, all smiles. and since Oprah's such a profectionist, they'd have to make out for 3 full minutes until big O was happy with the camera shots/angles.

then of course the big announcement. Oprah and Gayle stand hand and hand facing the audience. *drumroll.........* "You're getting a vibrator!! and YOU're getting a vibrator!!!! and you...YOU're getting a vibrator too!!"

alright troops, here's our next mission. i think by now, we can all consider Ruth (Lizzy the Lezzy's creator) our friend, right? and she's been entered into an animiated video competition for a few weeks now. the grand prize is money (and a warmth in her heart and in Lizzy's...well there's no telling where;-) ) .

here's the thing: im not saying that you can see this whole movie on youtube by looking up it's title. im not saying that i havent been able to find the dvd anywhere online (even though i want to buy it and give support to the filmmakers), thus leaving us with the only choice of watching the whole movie on youtube. im not saying that at all.

what im saying is, "Les Filles Du Botaniste" (2006) looks really fuckin' hot (+ emotional + well-acted + beautifully filmed, sex cetera) and thank the sweet lord for cameras, lesbians and various lotions and tonics and shit that make everything look all slippery in these clips.

i'm also saying that if you weren't lucky enough to be in any of these places at these times, youre gonna have to wait for this to come out on dvd. or uh...other places. im just sayin.

where to download the L Word, Season 4?

ive been asked this question a few times, and although i have Showtime, i might also need to know the answer to this sometime this L Word season. you know, if i get to travel like i hope...or if i have to go on tour with my wife. you just never know.

sooo, im asking all of you lovely people to post your answers as a comment. where does one download complete episodes of the L Word a day or two after they've aired? obviously youtube.com will be a big help to people. but there are other sites where you can get full episodes...do tell.

this will hopefully help those of you overseas as well.

*note* im not saying its good, proper or legal to download stuff online...or to slap a man wearing glasses, or to eat grapes at the supermarket without paying for them. just passing on a question... :-)

i've been to Norway a couple of times (a few years ago) because a few of my best friends live there. and i remember that what struck me most was how hot everyone there is. like...everyone. there was this Burger King at the train/bus station in a city called Bergen, and i went there a few times JUST to check out the chicks working behind the counter and flippin' patties. mmm...wish they were flippin *my patties*. seriously, Norway's streets are like runways. the reason its so expensive there ($10 for a value meal??) is cause youre paying for the view.

point of the story is, there was one chick at that Norwegian train station Burger King who looked a lot like the girl on top in this vid. so when i watched it tonight, to study and prepare it for you guys, i played it a few extra times just to have those great memories of Norway.
