Hearts and Crafts...
On Monday night I was invited to check out the Girl in a Coma / The Donnas show at the Viper Room in L.A. The show was RAD! Any Morrissey fans? Cause dude was there in the tiny club. Drinkin his Greygoose and whey.
After the show, I met actress Fairuza Balk on the sidewalk and shot the shit with her. She was lovely. Very chill and friendly.
The little encounter made me a bit nostalgic. It also made me wonder how many of my readers have NOT seen the movie "The Craft" in which Fairuza scared the living daylights out of us all, while simultaneously turning us on. That, my friends, is a gift.

Today my post should be known as "Your Daily Random Moments from a Lesbian." It's Friday night. This is normally my FAVORITE night. A night filled with dance, drinks and fantasTIT conversation. But apparently the higher above is too busy reminding me that I'm a woman to put a little slice of heaven on my lap. Too bad because I enjoyed my girl Nohnoh's hilarious flirtatious banter all damn day and I've spent the night harassing Arlan on every front. Through all of this, I have some randomness to you from me....
1. You know in the movies when a woman is bathing, how she raises her leg in the air, extends it and washes it? Can I just say...I tried this. About an hour ago. And was not graceful by any means. And lets think about it a little bit, who the hell came up with the idea to do it? It was so awkward. More awkward I am sure than Paris Hilton presenting a book report in English Class:
Paris Hilton: "So....like....when I read the book. I read it. And it was like....good. When I think back on why I read it, I realize it was because I wanted to....and that's HOT. It's really hot. So I think you should all read it, cuz like......everyone should read Green Eggs and Ham and support vegetarianism".
2. I simply adore the Honey Bunches of Oats lady that says "It's like a mouthful of Joy." And for reasons completely unknown, I would love for that to be said to me. By Kelly Clarkson. In a room with a rotating round bed. With these three things present: pink leather restraints found at Goodvibes, Kelis' "Bossy" playing in the background, and a chocolate chip cookie. Don't worry about it. Just take it all in.
3. Can McDonalds just come out with the American Idol meal and call it the McPhee meal. Please?! Because every time I see her name, my mouth waters. Not because shes hot (Well she is. But I don't think of Arlan's wife like that. Its just disrespectful). It waters because I'm thinking about my hands molesting a gorgeous sausage egg mcmuffin. So fresh and tasty. Get off my damn fingers and get in my mouth. Wait...flashback.

Some nights are gayer than others...
I've lived in L.A. for about 2 and a half months now. As I mentioned in a post a few days ago, sometimes this city really gets to me.
But last night (at the Killola show) I had a great time cause it was chock full of some *real* folks. Like most nights in L.A., it was also chock full of some quite random (but awesome!) meetings. I somehow managed to meet the following people, all within a 4 hour period:

David Moscow -
you know, the dude from "Newsies" and a bunch of other movies, including this one...
...before I introduced myself, I held him tight in my embrace. He smelled of peppermint and my childhood memories. You had me at "hello" David Moscow. You had me at "hello."
Joel Michaely -
The dude's been in like 20 films, but "But I'm a Cheerleader" is my favorite. He played Joel, the sensitive Jewish wanna-be-ex gay. Way to pimp those Killola cds my friend. :-)
Riki Lindhome -
She's just so good in everything she's in, from "Million Dollar Baby" to "Gilmore Girls" and everything in between. I'm really looking forward to seeing more!
Michelle Lombardo -
Super down to earth chick. She's on "Entourage" and in commercials, has been featured in Sports Illustrated and is doing films now...and she still keeps it *real* Don't ever let em change you, Michelle:-)

The lady of the night...lead singer for Killola and rock star goddess. So much energy on stage...crazy vocal skills...and a genuinely nice chick. Can't beat that with a stick. No seriously, I tried.

My favorite lesbian movies...
The number one question I get asked by people on an almost daily basis is "can you recommend some good lesbian movies?" The second most asked question is, "How do lesbians do it?" This post is designed to help answer both questions at the same time.
I've been gay for a good while now...and over the years have seen the good, the bad, and the ugly, when it comes to lesbian film. Grab your girl (or if you're alone, grab your boobs), pop some popcorn, and get started!

1. Boys Don't Cry
Hilary Swank's performance in this changed my life and will probably change yours. Period.
2. When Night is Falling
Beautifully filmed, sensual and subtle performances by the lead actresses. Accents, hot chicks, hot sex scenes, and a well-written story. This is one of the few lesbian movies that got it *right*.
3. Gia
Angelina Jolie went to hell and back while filming this movie, and it shows. One of the best performances by any actor in any movie that I've ever seen. In my opinion, only Hillary Swank in my #1 pick has done a better job in a mostly lesbian-themed movie.
4. Lost & Delirious
Piper Perabo playing "butch" right after "Coyote Ugly" came out? Very brave...very hot...and most importantly, very well-acted! And Jessica Pare' reminds me of Liv Tyler in all her "Empire Records" glory.
5. Kissing Jessica Stein
This one wins my favorite *writing in a lezzy movie* award. It's so smart, and honest and real...funny...I could watch it once a week for the rest of my life.
6. But I'm a Cheerleader
Clea Duvall. That black button-up shirt. That amazing love scene that came out of nowhere. Clea Duvall. 'Nuff said.
7. Fingersmith
Some days I put this at No. 1 simply because of the hotness that is the British lesbian. Look at that video again. I've seen the movie about 5 times, and I'm still a little breathless when I watch that. Seriously. What?? *whew*
8. Aimee & Jaguar
Beautiful and heartbreaking. And you get to bone up on your reading all at the same time. Educational and fun. Just like boobs.
9. The Incredibly True Adventures of Two Girls in Love
Aw...Laurel as a baby dyke. Seriously could not be more adorable. When the movie is good, it's REALLY good.
10. Loving Annabelle
This one's a new addition to my list since it came out just last year. But it's good times. Definitely worth a view or two.

Balls to the (fly on a) wall
Alright. It's a bit after midnight and I'm wide awake. It feels like its about 3pm right now. One day I will make it to bed before 3am. I'm certain of it.
I've found that the things I find on Youtube are always a bit different when I'm searching late at night. I guess thats because my search words are a little more colorful and random. I came across this interesting little diddy a few minutes ago.
There's a chick named Tammy Tavares who plays a character on "Days of Our Lives" named Dr. Karen Bader. Since "Days of Our Lives" is not "General Hospital," I have never seen it or heard of this woman. So I'm not sure how shocking this vid would be to fans of the show. I'm curious though. Almost as curious as these chicks are about doin' it with other chicks:

Yeah as soon as they got into the farting nonsense about 4 or 5 minutes into it, I wanted to throw things at the screen and yell at them for ruining what was well on it's way to being a nicely formed lady-boner. But nooo, they had to go ruin it with farting and shitting and...whatever else they went on about. But let's forget about that.
Let's go back to the part where the chicks were talking about wanting to do other chicks...or having been done by other chicks in the past. If you take away all the other stuff at the end, you've got yourself one compelling talk show. And I for one would love to see more of it. They do have more of it...it just doesn't interest me all that much cause they go on about penises (or "pen-i," as I like to call plural penis) and boys and icky things that I don't relate to. It's good for some people I suppose, and if you wanna check it out, I got your peni right'ere: click.
Watching the (first part of the) vid got me thinking about when I was in high school and had fantasies about certain female teachers. Then that made me think about the fantasies I have about older women today. And when I say older, I'm not talking Cybil Shepard-boobies-on-top-of-Alice older. I'm talking like...you know, that 35-45 range. I'm 26 (btw: when did that happen??)...
What do you guys think? What sort of rules do you have for yourself when it comes to appropriate ages to date? Do you have a range? I like to say anywhere between 23 and 35 is good relationship range for me. I know from experience that dating anyone any younger is just asking for trouble. And dating anyone any older than that might get tricky a few years down the line when they're in their 40s and I'm just hittin 30. Yep, I've thought about this quite a bit. Have you?
Also, I might do a chick thats younger if she's really hot and legal. Wait. Did I say that out loud? Hmmm....Oh well you guys know plenty about me. Why stop now, right? Enough about me...tell me what your range is...and if you have specific reasons, share with the class. And don't give me that "age ain't nothin but a number" crap. Cause yeah, that's easy to say. But there are some real issues to consider when you're thinking about that. And if you're 50 and dating a 19 year old, while I don't like to judge love, there's just something creepy about it. I bet you Celine's oozebund is on his way to my house right now to slap my face with a silk glove and challenge me to a dew-well.
