it could happen to any of us...

hi everyone,

i was just made aware of "The Cause of Lacaze". 35 year old Shahnaz Lacaze (sounds like "la-cause") was very recently diagnosed with an extremely rare and aggressive form of cancer called angiosarcoma.

my mother has cancer so this means a lot to me. and the fact that Shahkaz is so young and is part of our *community* makes this hit very close to home.

Shahnaz' friends are trying to raise $5,000 to pay for the health insurance deductible. they've raised $2,000 so far and are still going strong. any amount will help. if you make a donation (or buy one of their shirts), let me know (dont have to tell me the amount)...im not sure what i'll do with the list of names, but i figured i could help somehow and i REALLY want you guys to pitch in if you can...

go to www.myspace.com/cause4lacaze and read the TIMELINE in the "interests" section of the profile...

Hello Lady or Ladies,

This is a great blog BTW. I haven't explored it to the fullest yet so I'm not even sure if you know who 'Dororthy Arzner' is. But you should if you don't know. She is a filmmaker that existed before the 'Hollywood Studios'. She even survived through the changes of male dominance in Hollywood after the implementation of the five major studios. Being a person who studies film, and feel that the way it's taught is still sexist and separatist, I feel that woman should know that they actually played an important role throughout human history. Her films are wonderful, and if you live in the USA, you can get yourself a copy from ‘Facets’ or ‘Netflix’. Enjoy.

Speak Soon,
Eli
