No. Daughters of Bilitis was formed in 1955 long before this film - Bilitis is a fictional lesbian invented by the poet Pierre Louys in 1894 as a contemporary of Sappho in his poem The Songs of Bilitis.
back in 1980, a little lesbian in fresno california was able to watch this movie all by herself at the Tower theare. Before videorental, theatres like the Tower were the only way to see foreign films--not to mention films with girls kissing. ah, did this movie make her gay? hardly. But it did confirm that lesbians were real.

that was really... awkward! :P
The younger woman didn't know how to kiss and was asking the older one to show her how... I guess that's why it was awkward :)
Does that have anything to do with the organization Daughters of Bilitis?
