Homosexuality: An Original Theory

I'm not one for yoga.

It sort of scares me. The stretching and reaching and pulling and upsidedowniness of it all. And the cleansing of your aura business is a little foreign to me. But I do like the idea of meditation and it's something I plan on exploring very soon. I'll be all Bette circa L Word season 3 on your asses in no time.

If I do get into meditation, I'll most certainly want this woman's voice on cd telling me when to breathe in and out. She also has a very interesting theory about homosexuality...leave a comment and let me know what you think. Remember, there's a good chance she'll eventually read them, and while I encourage free speech and the voicing of your uncensored opinions, I ask that you please be respectful when expressing them.

I'm gonna go try *Downward Doggiestyle Dildo* over in the corner here. Anyone wanna join me?

i never thought of it this way...but the more i think about it, the less impossible it seems. guess you'd have to have a pretty strong belief in the possibility of reincarnation to even give the idea a chance...

but i dont think any of us has the entire answer. so maybe part of this is true. maybe more of it than some of us think.

*ooowwwwmmmm*

well, darn. I missed the women-loving-women era. There must have been a whole bunch of lesbian women in a past life, because there sure are a bunch of men-loving-women out here today -- and I have to sort through them to get to our ladies!

Because there is no fact of why people are gay, im pretty open to everyone's opinions and open to thinking that they could be true.
I never really thought of it this way, but it could be a pretty good explanation. The only thing I could think of to possibly question this theory is bringing up the topic of being asexual. How would that tendency be carried voer from a past life?
(not meaning to put homoseuxality and asexuality into the same category or anything)

I TOTALLY AGREE! I'VE BEEN SAYING THAT FOR YEARS. IT MAKES TOTAL SENSE.I FEEL I'VE ALWAYS BEEN MALE IN MY PASS LIFE AND MY DESIRE FOR WOMEN CROSSED OVER TO THIS LIFE AS A WOMEN. THANK YOU FOR PUTTING THAT OUT:)

ehh, iono.

the whole theory seems a bit heteronormative. why does Homosexuality have to be tried back to straight tendencies? i'd like to think that was was gay in my past lives, a gay beaver, a gay deer , a gay empress, even a gay tree ..lol

i agree with danielle, i dont like the idea of defining homosexuality in terms of heterosexuality.

Respectfully, I think this is bunk.

I was gonna comment, but I Danielle already said what I was thinking. She's privileging heterosexuality, and setting it as the norm.

I've never heard or thought of this theory until just now! It's very interesting.
But what if this is your first life and you have never been reincarnated? I'm not trying to sound like a douchebag and I'm not saying I believe some psychic in Jackson Square, but he told me that this was my first life. And I'm a gay lady. So what about that?
There were no past lives of mine to be a straight man.
Even if that's not true, do you know what I'm saying? Kind of? Unless you're taking it all the way back to Adam and Eve who were THE first and were both straight. Ya know, supposedly ;)

I dunno I think I'll have to think about this some more.

AS much as we don't want to say that there is a possiblity of homoesexuality stemming from heterosexuality...there is still the possibility. I think it's best to just keep our minds open to all of the different theories of homoesexuality.

i find this a very common spoken theory. i guess anyone who really examines there life would have stumbled across this idea before. i won't claim to agree or disagree, purely as i don't know for sure. the reason why i don't say god is or isn't true. etc. i have a buddhist friend who once told me i may be a lesbian due to dying in my past life as a young boy who did not get to fufill the desires that i should have. as though the requirements of one life have to be completed so they are carried onto the next life if not. i hope that makes sense.

I agree with re incarnation, i believe in it 100%, and Ive actually thought about this theory too! That well we've all been male and female so if i've been male before i've obviously liked women. I'm sure it is one of the reasons.. but i also think there are other reasons as well. They say gay people run in the family as well. Like tegan and sarah, both twins, both gay. I know it isn't the only reason people are gay but i believe it is part of it.

and p.s. i don't believe anyone is 100% female and 100% male. we've been both in our past lives, and everyone has both female and male energies withins us. to the argument that this theory is derived from heterosexual privileges, well i think it is more complicated than that.

Sure you could have been gay in past lives, completely. i think the main point though is that we've all been male or female in past lives, and it doesn't matter, our soul isn't male or female and it loves who it loves, so why should gender even matter? In a past life I could have been a man loving a woman, now in this life I am a woman loving a woman, so what is the difference really? nothing except my gender is different. If you think about it, you could look at this way: many heterosexuals in this life have been homosexuals in past lives . for an example, say I am a straight man in this life, and my last life I was a WOMAN who loved men?? The truth is, we've been with 'em all, so everyone has been gay and straight!!!! whatever way u wanna look at it. that fact alone should make homophobic people stop caring about gayness. because truth is whatever sex they are in this life, in another theyve most likely been another sex and been with their own sex. wow that gets complicated, but it makes sense!

That is an interesting theory. I have one or two questions about it though:
In some versions of reincarnation it is limited solely to humans. How then do you explain homosexuality in animals?
If you do include animals, does this explain bestiality?

She has got to be kidding me.!
Nonsense.

For some people that feel they were born that way, I do believe that this is possible; that they were infact of a different sex in their past life(s). But for others, their sexuality is still based on their upbringing and the maturity of their minds as they grow. I think that women that grow up with more of a male influence in their life will turn out to be more attracted to women, since they werent around them as much, and the unfamiliarity of the sex attracts them. Its something I've noticed throughout my life with certain people, and even myself. I did grow up with a mother, but I felt as if I was more closer with my father and brothers. I never remember doing anything with my mom that would stick in my mind today, but I have alot of memories with male influences. So today, when I look at a man (any man), I never have that thought that they have mystery surrounding them that I want to find out, or that they were cute. Its something that never crossed my mind. But when I see a woman (same thing, any woman) I'm always either stricken by her presense and blown away because I see something that I was never used to seeing and it attracts me to learn and see more.

Also, the attraction to a sex could be from a artistic stand point. Its more appealing to me to have my eyes on something (or someone) that is curvy and only shows the curves very subtlely (if thats a word, lol). Idk about you, but that always attracts me to see what the clothes are hiding. But a man... idk... MOST men, are very hard for me to look at. I usually cringe and or think that they're whole body (or parts of it) are a deformity. Thats mostly why, when I do look for a guy to be with (if I do... *rolls my eyes*) I would want him to be bigger then me, like a broad chest kind of guy, or someone with a muscular frame. Not really pumped, but just enough to see that they're there. Idk, I'm just really attracted to the curves of the body. They're really beautiful. Thats why I cant really say I'm a lesbian.... b/c I do sometimes find guys out there that catch my eye, but its a once in a blue moon deal...

Oh, man... my friend and I recorded a hilarious response (or rather, parody) to this video on facebook, but we're now trying to figure out how to transfer it to youtube.
If we manage to achieve this, I will definitely post the link here.
In the meantime, you can see some of our other very gay videos on my blog, or here: http://youtube.com/profile?user=KayroDayna

I am sure that I will be in the minority, because I am a semi-religious lesbian. I don't believe in reincarnation, but as a spiritual person I don't believe I'm a sinner or going to hell because I love my wife. The genetic make up of each individual person is so complex our DNA is also heterogeneous that it is my conviction that we are plainly and simply born with "gayness" in our DNA. It's not like homosexuality hasn't been around for centuries, it's just discussed and more widely accepted than in past generations.

BTW Kayro's youtube parody was humorous.

i dont think it sounds farfetched, though the mechanics of how people get reincarnated and if its someone's first life or not can be. energy can never be destroyed or created, where that energy goes can be debated, but it leaves a gap open to the possibility of reincarnation if you take that basic scientific fact into consideration.

The fact that, in her theory, being gay wouldnt be an abnormalty but since we (gays) would have to have had our desires root from something straight..it means that yes...being gay is an abnormality.

cool little thought for her though: who is to say that we are the ones with the tendancies. what if at the beginning of the beginning or w/e women are naturally attracted to women and men to men, straight people would be the ones having tendancies from past lives. who is to say which is which?
