Candy Reign

Ellen Page is hot. She's hotness in a teeny tiny package, but she's hot nonetheless. She's like 5 feet of fury, that one is. I don't think there's a single person reading this who hasn't see Juno yet. If you haven't, I'm taking your *lesbian-card* for the day. Don't worry, I'm just gonna hold on to it til you get your act together. Come back when you're able to give me at least 5 quotes from the movie. Go on!

Now for everyone else who's already on the right Ellen Page...page, I wanted to make sure you knew about a movie that didn't get much buzz since it came out pre-belly. It's also an extremely difficult movie to stomach, even though you won't be able to take your eyes off of the screen:

"Hard Candy"

Another movie with a deceptively sweet title that I think you MUST see immediately is "Candy." It stars Heath Ledger in one of his best performances (if not THE best), and Abbie Cornish, who I don't know much about outside of the film, but godDAMN if she doesn't give the performance of a lifetime in this one! Seriously... it's just a stunning piece of art:

"Candy"

So there you have it. Two amazing pieces of film that share a common name with four or five performances that will leave you breathless (haha, I sound like an announcer guy--but I'm serious!). Neither of these movies are ones that you'll wanna gather your little brother's 2nd grade class around ye olde big screen to watch with you. And you should probably leave the grandparents at the dinner table while you're checking these suckers out. But if you're open-minded and don't HAVE to have a train station explode on your screen every 3 minutes or some chick teaching you how shopping brings out your inner beauty to be entertained, I think you'll love these flicks.

If you've seen either or both of these movies, what did you think? Amazing, right??

I saw Hard Candy when it first came out and immediately bought it on dvd when it was released. Ellen Page is so incredibly vengeful and deceptive in this film. Great film.

Ah, Ellen Page. So cute and brilliant in Juno. She looked gorgeous on the cover of Interview magazine all suited up. Just wondered, do you like Lady Sovereign? I heard she has a strong gay following in America. I was reminded of her looking at that photo of Ellen.

I always get Yo Majesty and Lady Sovereign mixed up. Who's who and what's what?

I've never heard of Yo Majesty. Is she English? Lady Sovereign is this cheeky little (allegedly gay) Cockney rapper... that's a vid of hers (not a brilliant song, but she's hot so who care):

I love Ellen Page. She's definitely one of my favorite actresses AND she's Canadian! We all know how much Canada rocks. Tegan and Sara, the L word... need I say more? Anyways, I own Hard Candy. I LOVE that movie. It's brilliant!

to be honest with u im not a big fan of Ellen Page...there is smtg in her that annoys me...However the first movie i saw with her was Hard candy....hard one...then it was Juno...like the idea..like the way it was written...nd not bad acting from the few parties in it... to summarize : i did like the movie, but still think it was a bit over rated...
the movie that truly shocked me was An american crime.... i was left speechless...i am still speechless...

i have seen both movies and read the book that candy was based upon as well. i enjoyed watching hard candy more than i did with the other movie mostly because i prefferred the book. yes im a nerd leave me alone. what i did like about candy was the gritty low budget film feeling and how it was seperated into three worlds. you'll see what i mean when you see it. hard candy just had outstanding performances. it was quite entertaining to watch a 14 year old manipulate and control this grown man. it was a very psychological film. and just cuz im that much of a lesbian ellens body is magnificent. yea, she takes her shirt off in the movie. okay im done with my movie review

i saw hard candy before juno, and i was immediately like "who is this chick!?". crazy good actress.

abbie's not so bad either. somersault is another film in which she is mesmerizing.

i missed hard candy in its way too short limited release in theatres. i snapped it up the minute it hit dvd and i was not disappointed. an entire film that featured only 3 characters (one of which is a quick cameo by sandra oh). both ellen page's and patrick wilson's characters were SO compelling and well acted; and the writing was so spot-on that you keep switching your allegiance between them (even tho you want to stick with ellen 'cause she is such a kick ass idea of a character). brilliant, brilliant film.

if you like ellen page, you may also want to check out 'an american crime'. this one's based on a true story which makes it extra disturbing.

My best friend told me about Hard Candy and about how I had to see it. So then, I noticed it was one of those free on-demand movies, and so I watched it with my girlfriend (although we weren't technically together yet), since she recommended it. WOW. What an intense and good movie, although disturbing at times. And Ellen Page is just amazing.

I've wanted to see Candy, since I heard how good Heath Ledger was in it, but have not got the chance.

Hard Candy is a fantastic movie. I was amazed. It got me good. Didn't see it coming, man.

Candy is one of my favorite movies of all time. It's seriously Heath Ledger's best performance. Only exception, The Dark Knight. "once upon a time there was Candy and Dan..." oh, I love it.

yeah, every person on the planet should own a copy or three of both the films.
