Did We Forget About "South of Nowhere??"

What did you guys think of the series and the final season? **Note: There may be spoilers in the comments if people give their opinions...just be aware.**

I know there are some hardcore Spashley fans who will disagree with me on this, but it seems like we all just sort of forgot about SON. It might have been due to the fact that there was just SO much more quality lesbian content on mainstream television and it just got lost in the mix (*please note sarcasm). Or no, it's probably because we decided that we don't like hot girls (or guys--come on, even would do !).

Actually it's prob just cause the network it was on thought it would be a good idea to spread 40 episodes over almost 40 months and that no one would notice. Hmmm...not the best idea when your target audience is 13-19 (+ older chicks like me who just like the hot actresses on SON) and has the attention span of...wait, what was I saying?

So yeah I used to race home on Fridays to catch the latest episode of SON, and because they took FOREVER to get back to the 2nd half of the 3rd and final season, I totally forgot about it. Like, seriously. To a point where I've even seen the two main actresses on the net doing interviews recently and it didn't even occur to me that SON might have started up again. That's how bad it got.

Good thing I was able to recently catch up! I must say that it was a very satisfying final season, and I think the entire team--creators, cast & crew--deserve lots of credit. It faltered a bit here and there, but how cool was it to have non-outcast chicks making out and sayin' normal...STUFF... on uber mainstream TV?? I know you Europeans have been watching girls, ya know, do it on television while having dinner (and alcohol, lots and lots of alcohol) with your parents for YEARS, but we North Americans haven't been as cultured...and we likes! So a hearty round of Juno-kudos to you SON folks. And hey, if the chick who played Madison ever needs a ride anywhere, I've got a month-long bus pass, a map of the city, and a big heart. Let's ride.

Whether you've been a fan of the show since it started, or you're just hearing about it now, if you haven't seen any or all episodes of the final season, gather 'round ye olde 'puter and get ready for some pre-Superbowl/L Word gay times!

Just CLICK HERE (or go to the-n.com) and on the right-hand side of the page, you'll find a link to "full episodes." Choose "show all episodes" and get to watchin'. Remember, the episodes are listed from the most recent down to the beginning of the season. So start at the bottom and work your way up. You ladies are used to doing that already, so it shouldn't be too much of a problem;-) For those of you who are just being introduced to the show for the first time, there are 3 seasons, so make sure you start with Season 1 if you really wanna get in there...the whole series is approx 13 hours of film if you watched it without commercials. It's like they made 8 movies in 3 years! ...or somethin.

Here's a great fan tribute to the series from youtube. The sound is a bit iffy in some spoken parts but overall, I digs it!:

I think that they could have done a lot of good for Les teens if they would have kept the series going longer. Showed the transition of highschool to college...

(and I could have stood to see a little more grown up content...hee hee)

i loved this show from day one. I was about the same age as the girls, so to be a high schooler, watching a high school lesbian love story was very nice. I liked the final season, and the final episode was so sweet. Online they also put a "fan written into the future" scene as well with ashley being pregnant, off of aidens sperm, and Spencer is a big time producer. It was a bit odd, but nice. Over all i LOVE the show and wish it could have gone on forever

Yes its a definitely shame that it didn't go on for a few more years through college. Could have been groundbreaking...again.

Maybe someone will make something like that soon? Let's hope so.

I've also been a fan since the beginning. Episode 1 and I was hooked. I was probably as close to devastated as a girl could get when I heard they would be cancelling the series after season 3. I think the show did a lot of good for a lot of people. I think it helped to open some people's eyes about how it feels and what really goes on when you're a teenager discovering who you are. It was always a plus that ALL the actors were gorgeous but the content of the shows and the characters played all really spoke to me. When I was watching Spencer figure out who she was and what she wanted, I was helping myself do the same. I think that was probably the case with a lot of girl [and guys] it was all very relatable and I lovedddd the show from start to finish!

I thought the finale was amazing! It felt like there was more "Spashley" time in that episode alone than all season though [which was a bittersweet thing for me] It was a good farewell for the amazing show.

I also recommend buying season 1 & 2 off of amazon.com =] it was 1st on my christmas list. hah.

I've been a fan since it started. I kinda forgot about it since I didn't have the N but I loved the show! It was devastating to hear that they were on their last season but the show did justice. mann.. Spashley = hott!!!

awwww...arlan! you know i loved me some SoN! first time i saw it was a random replay at, like, 3am while visiting my auntie back home. you know your trashy high school drama is on to something when my auntie e-mails me the next week to discuss the latest episode!!!

in a side note: how come madison and ashley never hooked up (even in an "ashley's bad dream-wake up sweaty and screaming" kinda way)? all that angry tension could have been put to good use when spashley was taking a break...i'm just sayin'. and if spashley can't do anything with her, i have a few projects around my apartment that could put madison to good use...

I LOVE SON!!! I have loved it since day one! Being a teen les myself I could relate to a lot of things in the show and it made me feel not so alone. I literally cried when I heard they were on their last season. I wish they would have kept it going. It's done so much to enlighten people about true love and happiness, I have every episode on my ipod and I watch them all the time. And I'll admit, I have a HUGE CRUSH on Mandy Musgrave... ;)

South of Nowhere was the best show I have ever seen. I got into it in July 2008 and I can honestly say that if I had never watched that show, I would not be the person I am today. It's sad that it had to end but hopefully another network will give the show a good run that they deserve. Every character on the show is beautiful, especially Mandy :). Son will live on<3

I stumbled on the show online...two days before the last episode aired. I know, right?
But it was AWESOME. The transitions were incredible, the plotlines believable, the acting amazing.
And then it ended. Crap.

South of Nowhere was seriously a lifesaver for me. My father has never exactly been 'Yay Gay'...in fact, when I was 15 I was kicked out of my house. I'm now nearing 20 and I can't say our relationship has improved all that much. However, I had my father watch a few episodes of South of Nowhere, specifically the one where Paula caught Spencer and Ashley and the one where Paula attended gay pride. I told him I'll wait forever for that day...we're getting better. This show was a place for me to turn when I didn't know where else to go. It will always have a place in my heart and in my DVD collection. Spashley forever <3

i absolutely loved SON from the second i saw it. i think the 1st time i ever watched it, it was already the 2nd season. either way,SON = one of the best shows of all time EVER!! though it does suck that its over idk maybe they'll find some other gay love story to "culture" mainstream tv. lol. to be honest i kinda just have my fingers crossed that the producers will come to their senses and film another season although the last episode was pretty definite. *tear tear* =[

South Of Nowhere is one of the best shows that I have ever watched. I think it opened a lot of eyes showing that it's okay to be gay. I also think a lot of teens have learned to come out and parents have learned to accept it. I am sad to see it over, and I hope other shows like it will come out!

South of Nowhere is amazing. It told such a great story and helped many young teens feel ok with being who they are. I know it helped me to relize that it doesn't matter what anyone else think about me i deserve to be myself and love who i want without being judged. I am so upset that it is over but am greatful for what the show has taught me. I LOVE SPASHLEY!! One day hope to have what they had.

Hey, I know I watched the show almost religiously while I was going through High School! It helped me a ton through those years. I can only imagine it would help more if it were still going. I think too many don't know how to deal with their situations. Especially with family and friends. It's hard when you're a young teenager and you're facing things that you've never dealt with before. Plus, it's nice to know you're not alone out there. The fact that there was a show about it, let me know I wasn't the only one feeling that way.
